Over 150 different products have Alexa already built into them and there are over 28,000 smart-home gadgets that can utilize Amazon’s virtual assistant. These devices are made by more than 4,500 manufacturers, and apparently Alexa has access to more than 70,000 skills.
During the holiday season, sales of Amazon Echo Dot devices exceeded expectation and nearly one million people signed up to receive invites to buy the Echo Auto- a dash-mounted Alexa-enabled device for any car, CNET reported.
Alexa smart assistant enabled devices enjoy the advantage over other companies which are still perfecting their smart speaker range where Amazon has been able to simply expand its lineup with tailor-made Alexa skills. Recently, Amazon revealed that the number of people who use Alexa every day and who own more than one Echo device doubled in 2018.
To capitalize the market growth companies like Samsung and Apple are also going to introduce the smart speakers in the market soon. In the recent reports, it was stated that Samsung is reportedly planning a cheaper version of its Galaxy Home Mini smart speaker powered by its voice assistant Bixby. Samsung this simply suggest that the company is ready to take on the google mini and Alexa speakers. This will be add on for yet to be launched Galaxy Home, the devices will be powered with the Samsung own Virtual Assistant system Bixby.
CES 2019 is also going to the event more focused on Artificial intelligence and we can expect some great and new features related to smart speakers being show cased in the event.
