Android Messages App

One of the biggest issues that we face in this smartphone world is Spam call and Messages. Truecaller is one of the Apps which claim to protect you from Spam, somewhere claim is true as well. Security is one of the major concern on the Trucaller, so if you are also one of those who is frustrated by the Spam messages like me, then we have some good news for you. Google has begun rolling out its spam protection feature for Android Messages App after almost over six months of developing it for Android users.

Based on reports from a handful of AndroidPolice, that spam protection feature is now going live, though not everyone seems to have it just yet, the Android Police reported late on Friday. Several users were seeing a prompt called “New! Spam protection” soon after opening the Android Messages App.

“The change appears to be server-side and in a limited rollout for the time being, as other devices we’ve tested, including my own, don’t have it just yet. When it does hit your device, you should see a notification similar to that above when launching Messages,” the report added. Once introduced, users can disable this feature in the Settings and then in the Advanced menu.

Data about spam messages is to improve the search engine giant’s ability to “detect future spam for users”. The company has maintained that Messages is its primary communication solution for its users.

Considering it’s a server-end roll-out, when your phone receives the spam protection feature, you will notice a new notifications pop-up on your phone alerting you of the feature. You can also manually activate the feature by heading to Settings > Advanced Settings > Spam Protection > Enable Spam protection.

How this feature works at the back-end is still unknown. Presumingly, it looks at that data statistically to determine commonalities between spam messages. Notably, if you send a spam report manually, it still submits the full message to Google, including phone numbers of both sender and recipient as well as the message’s contents.

It seems to be a great help from Google as this will help in reducing the spam in our day to day life. For all the latest updates from technology and smartphone world like Viral Mobile Tech on Facebook.
