If you are using the Inbox by Gmail app then we have some bad news for you. The App is reaching its End of Life. As per the blog post from the Google, company is set to shut down its alternate mailing app Inbox by Gmail in March 2019, giving users time to shift to the traditional Gmail by then.
Inbox by Gmail was introduced as an innovative new email app that lived alongside Gmail and served as an experimental platform for Google to try newer mailing features that could be incorporated in Gmail later.
if you recall the launch of the App, it was launched in the year 2014 and was one of the best apps of that time (I personally feel it is one of the best as on date). Inbox, when launched, was available for download only on the invite from Google, and the users of Inbox was given the option to invite their friends to try out the app and was limited to only three invites. I was one of the lucky users, who got an invite from Google.
After using the App for almost 4 years, I found many features like snoozing emails to later, trying latest artificial intelligence (AI)-powered experiences like Smart Reply, Nudges, high-priority notifications along with gesture and bundling features to manage the messages very handy for day to day usages.
Talking about the development Matthew Izatt, Product Manager at Gmail, wrote in a blog post late on Wednesday, “We want to take a more focused approach to help us bring the best email experience to everyone. As a result, we’re planning to focus solely on Gmail and say goodbye to ‘Inbox’ at the end of March 2019.”
“We know change is hard, so we’ve created a transition guide to help you switch from Inbox to the new Gmail with ease,” Izatt added.
Earlier in 2018, a revamped version of Gmail was introduced with newer features like Smart Compose that helps users draft emails faster and several other features were picked up from Inbox.
