It all started in 2016, when Jio was launched. It went for continuous disruption in telecom market, along with the 4G VoLTE services in the country, the company went on to utilize the software space with its suite of Jio apps. Some of them, such as JioCinema and JioTV are extremely popular among consumers. To add in the suite of Apps, now Jio has launched JioBrowser for its users.

JioBrowser is not exclusive for the Jio users, any Android users can download the App and use it. The browser is currently available only for Android users. The app is currently not available for the iPhone users and there is no word on its availability for the iOS users. The app is presently available for download on the Google PlayStore.

The home screen of the JioBrowser will offer links to some of the top Indian content websites. The websites that are chosen for the home screen offer a wide variety of content such as information related to cricket, travel, shopping, entertainment and more. The new section of the JioBrowser will also let consumers customise their news feed with a personalised choice of content source.

The browser comes with support for up to 8 regional Indian languages including Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Telegu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Bengali. Users can customize the browser including its “Local News category” to get relevant updates about everything happening around you.

The JioBrowser app allows users to access top sites, use the Incognito mode for private surfing over the Internet and lets users share news to his or her contacts and via social media.

Talking about the Browser, Reliance said, “one of the first Indian browsers that’s developed keeping the Indian users in mind.” The browser is said to be lighter than its competitors, weighing just around 5MB. Therefore, consumers on low-end devices should be able to run it smoothly.

The browser is expected to get more feature in coming months. To achieve more efficiency with the browser, Reliance Jio has invited feedback on part of the users for further enhancing the user experience.
