After lots of leaks and rumors, Apple has finally launched the new MacBook Air featuring a Retina Display, in the event today at New York. While launching the new MacBook Air, Tim Cook said that there are 100 million Mac users globally.
The new MacBook Air has been redesigned with thinner bezels. Apple has done away with aluminum bezels on the new MacBook. It features a13.3-inch Retina display with 4 million pixels resolution and 48% more colour. The new device also features Touch ID embedded on the keyboard and protected by Apple’s T2 security. It features Apple’s 3rd generation keyboard with back-lit keys and ForceTouch trackpad.
The MacBook Air also supports the “Hey Siri” command to launch the voice assistant. The laptop uses a new keyboard with a backlight and a Force Touch trackpad with 20 percent more surface area. The device has a three-mic array for a better Group FaceTime experience. The device has two Thunderbolt 3.0 ports, which allows for charging, data transfer, HDMI outs, external displays, etc.
Apple’s new MacBook is equipped with two Thunderbolt 3 ports. It is powered 8th generation dual-core Intel i5 processor with 16GB of memory and up to 1.5TB SSD support. MacBook Air features stereo speakers along with 3 microphones.
Apple’s new MacBook is even thinner 15.3mm weighing 2.75 pounds and has 17% less volume than its predecessor and is made with 100% recycled aluminum.
It comes with the all-day battery life that MacBook Air is known for (12 hours of wireless Web browsing). The device has 17 percent less volume than the old one. The device is 15.6mm thick and has a headphone jack. The laptop weighs just 1.25kg.
Price and availability of new MacBook Air
The device will start at $1199, which makes it the most affordable Mac with a Retina display. This goes on sale today and it will be available from November 7.
