The smartphone was first launched in China in July. It comes with dual rear camera setup, and a 19:9 notch display.
Priced at Rs 14,990, the Oppo A5 is aimed at offline consumers who want a smartphone with a big-screen with dual camera and good battery backup. The smartphone packs a large 4,320mAh battery and claims to deliver 14 hours of video playback or 11 hours of gaming playback in one charge. The back of the smartphone gets the glossy diamond-like finish as well.
Oppo A5 specifications and features
The Oppo A5 comes with a 6.2-inch LCD display with a notch with HD+ resolution (1520×720 pixels), and 19:9 aspect ratio. The display is protected by a 2.5D curved glass. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC with octa-core CPU clocked at 1.8GHz. The handset comes in one variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. It gets an option to expand the storage via microSD card (up to 128GB).
As for the camera, the Oppo A5 gets a dual camera setup with 13-megapixel primary sensor with f/2.2 aperture and 2-megapixel secondary sensor with a f/2.4 aperture to detect the depth in portrait mode. Up front, it packs an 8-megapixel camera for selfies. Oppo says that the front camera includes AI Beauty Technology 2.0, which is capable of recognizing up to 296 facial points.
The highlight of the device is its 4,230mAh battery, which according to the company can deliver up to 14 hours of video playback, and 11 hours of gaming playback. The Oppo A5 runs Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.1 out-of-the-box.
If the launch of devices is going to happen in similar fashion, it will be tough for users to decide “which one to buy?” or rather would like to put that “Buy or wait for a new model?”
