OnePlus has started rolling out OxygenOS 5.1.11 for the OnePlus 6 users. As per the standard procedure this OTA will have a staged rollout, the OTA will be received by a limited number of users today and will have a broader rollout in a few days after making sure there are no critical bugs, so using VPN to download this build might not work as the rollout is not based on regions and is randomly pushed out to a limited number of devices.
The new build fixes the screen flickering issue in daylight that surfaced last month. This occurred in bright ambient lighting conditions when adaptive brightness was turned on.
Below are the changes that will come to your device after the OxygenOS 5.1.11 update:
- Optimized network connection
- Optimized stability for Wi-Fi connection
- Fixed screen flickering issue in daylight
- General bug fixes and improvements
- Confirm pin without tapping ✓(Setting > Security & lock > PIN)
- Improved HDR mode
Additionally, the camera HDR mode has been improved (though specifics haven’t been shared). Wi-Fi connections should be more stable after applying this update, and the changelog also mentions “optimized network connection”. General, unnamed bug fixes and improvements are baked in as well.
Finally, you now have the option to confirm your PIN code without tapping the checkmark button – just enter the numbers and, if they’re correct, as soon as you’ve typed the last one the phone will instantly unlock. The toggle for this new feature can be found in Settings > Security & lock > PIN.
The company has started rolling out the Android P beta for the OnePlus 6 users and soon it is expected to come on your device. However, as per google, OnePlus is going to roll out the new OS (OxygenOS 5.1.11) by November.
Considering the commitment from OnePlus we can expect the rollout to be sooner than expected.
