Xiaomi upcoming Su-brand Pocophone, which is in direct competition with OnePlus will launch its Poco F1 device in India on August 22. As per the recent reports, it looks like the Poco F1 will be Flipkart exclusive.
Flipkart’s mobile app is showing a banner for the Poco F1, though it does not specifically mention the device. However, given the similarity in the promotional material of the Poco F1 and the banner on Flipkart, it’s safe to assume this will launch on the e-commerce platform.
So, if you are hearing the name of Pocophone first time, then for your information, Pocophone will be a sub-brand of Xiaomi, and Poco F1 will be the first flagship phone. Poco is focusing on speed and performance when it comes to the device.
Pocophone has hinted that the phone will come with the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, and a leaked unboxing video has also hinted at something similar. All this shows that it will give direct competition to the brand like OnePlus and Samsung.
Specifications of Poco F1
While Poco hasn’t revealed the specifications of the Poco F1, an initial listing on a Belarusian online store suggested that the handset will come with a 6.18-inch full-HD+ display that will an 18.7:9 aspect ratio.
The Poco F1 is also rumoured to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC along with a liquid cooling system. Codenamed Beryllium, the new model is also said to run Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI on top and come with a 4,000mAh battery.
It is also reported to have a rear-facing fingerprint sensor and a dual rear camera setup, supporting optical zoom. A Bluetooth SIG certification also previously hinted at a combination of a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor with a dual-pixel autofocus lens. Moreover, a recent video preview of the smartphone also showed its performance on AnTuTu benchmark in which the hardware scored 258,149 points.
Another interesting feature of the Poco F1 could be a liquid cooling system. It remains to be seen if Xiaomi’s sub-brand Pocophone will pitch this as a gaming-centric phone in the market. The expectation is that the price could be above Rs 30,000, which will put this in competition with phones like OnePlus 6, Huawei Nova 3, Asus Zenfone 5Z, etc.
Poco F1 will compete is the mid-premium segment, space where Xiaomi has not done well in India. Xiaomi is known more for its budget smartphones like the Redmi series, which continue to drive volumes, while devices like Mi 5, Mi Mix 2 etc have not exactly been the biggest hits.
Xiaomi is all set to get into the market which is dominated by companies like OnePlus and Samsung and only time will tell how much people will trust the brand.
