Recently there was a rumour about the launch of the new Poco phone Poco F2 but that ended up being a 6GB variant of the Armoured Poco F1. Now with the leaks coming into picture it can be said that Xiaomi is working on a successor to its Poco F1, first smartphone under its power-users focused Poco series. Conveniently dubbed as Poco F2, Xiaomi’s new phone has made an unofficial appearance ahead of the launch.
The upcoming new Poco F2 is spotted on benchmarking platform Geekbench on friday, Xiaomi Poco F2 is said to come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor and 6GB of RAM, probably for the base variant. The smartphone has an impressive 2321 single-core score and 7564 multi-score on Geekbench.
It’s being speculated the Poco F1 successor will come with incremental upgrades in the camera and software departments. According to the Geekbench listing, Xiaomi Poco F2 runs Android Pie out-of-the-box. There’s no word on camera and design specifications.
Interestingly enough, Xiaomi’s Poco F1 successor doesn’t have the latest Qualcomm chipset, Snapdragon 855, chipset which is said to power the OnePlus 7, 7T, Samsung Galaxy S10, S10 Plus, Mi 9, Mi Mix 4 and other flagships coming next year. But now going by the Geekbench listing looks like Poco F2 might not carry the same strategy. The first device with the chipset has been released by Lenovo in from of Lenovo Z5 pro GT.
The Geekbench listing reveals that Poco F2 will not have a lot of things changed compared to the Poco F1 as far as the core hardware is concerned. The benchmark listing shows that the phone will be powered by Snapdragon 845 paired with 6GB of RAM memory. The Poco F1 comes in 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM variants, which is why we expect an 8GB RAM model for the PocoF2 too. Notably, performance has been one of the key highlights of Poco F1. Similar will be the case with the Poco F2. The Geekbench listing of the Poco F2 reveals that the phone scored 2321 on single core and 7564 on multi-core.
Now as per the leak Xiaomi is expected to launch the Poco F2 with similar hardware as per its predecessor we expect minor changes in design, might be waterdrop notch will be introduced on the phone to attract the customers from that market segment.
If you do the analysis of Xiaomi strategy as a company, you can easily find that they want to push maximum devices with same hardware to increase the sales by giving options to customers with mino change in design or the hardware.
