Realme has launched the new Realme 2 in India with the starting price of Rs 8,990. This is companies second device and first after the separation from Oppo. At the end of the launch event, Madhav Sheth, Chief Executive Officer of Realme India, teased another smartphone that the company may launch in September. By the looks of the teaser, we could derive that Realme will launch a high-end version of the smartphone which will be called, the Realme 2 Pro.
Sheth later confirmed to The Mobile Indian, “We are going to launch Realme 2 Pro within a month. It will be priced a bit higher than Realme 1 but less than Rs 20,000. The smartphone will come with best of the processor and best of design,” the executive was quoted as saying.
The news platform also claims that the company will launch Realme 2 Pro on September 28. Sheth also said that the Realme 2 is not an upgrade to Realme 1 and is a different smartphone altogether aimed at a different target audience.
On opting for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor in Realme 2, Sheth said that the company chose to use the chipset because “it is currently the best chipset with this price range.” “The same processor is used in smartphones that are priced up to Rs 22,000,” he added.
On Android P update, Sheth said that all Realme smartphones will be upgraded to Android 9.0 Pie and the Realme 2 will be updated to Android P in early next year.
Company latest device Realme 2 features a 6.2-inch HD+ display with a notch and a 19:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone’s screen-body ratio is 88.8 percent which the company claims are one of the highest in this price segment. Realme 2 features the second generation of the diamond-cutting design and is made up of a scratch resistant 12-layer nano-tech composite material. There are a dual-camera and a fingerprint sensor on the back.
