After disrupting the telecom market with their launch offer and tariff plans and the huge success of Jio phones, Reliance Jio is planning to launch the large-screen smartphone the market. As per the reports in the market, Jio is working on the project with their partner.
Plan of launching the large-screen smartphone seems to be the second phase of disruption for Indian mobile market, which started 12 months back with the
Talking to Economics Time Sunil Dutt, head sales, channel development at Reliance Jio said, “We are trying to work with partners who can bring in affordable large screen smartphones for a large mass of customers who are yet to make a shift to a 4G smartphone, so that they can experience the right kind of connectivity as well as the right kind of content on devices which are affordable.”
Further to that Mr. Dutt Said, “We will keep coming out with something new in every few months.”
“Wherever we feel there are gaps in the market which the people are not able to address or not able to take a risk about because they have their own priorities at times, those are the markets that we will then want to address,” Dutt added.
If Jio launches the new large-screen smartphone in the Indian market then it will not be the first occasion when the company will do that. Reliance Jio, during its initial day had launched a slew of Lyf phones, starting from Rs 2,999 and going up to Rs 20,000 but it’s possible that competing phone makers managed to tighten the hold with their own affordable devices.
The new range of smartphones from the company, as the report suggests, are likely to be branded as JioPhone but we’re not sure about who will be making the devices and how affordable can Jio manage to go with them.
