Social Media dig at Apple

Apple’s iPhone shipments in India fell 25% in the quarter ended December even as the premium segment expanded 16% with record shipments, underlining its continuing struggles in the world’s fastest-growing market due to high prices, a research firm said. The data came a day after Apple said revenue from iPhones fell 15% globally – a first for the Cupertino, California-based company in the holiday quarter – mainly due to weakness in China, the world’s biggest market. Its forecast for the current quarter also signaled weak demand for iPhones. There was no mention of India. In the latest Social Media dig at Apple iPhone, Chinese smartphone brand OnePlus has dared Apple to ask Siri, iPhone’s own voice assistant, about India’s top premium smartphone.

The body copy of the ad reads “Hey, Siri which is India’s No.1 Premium Smartphone?” The ad surfaced on Facebook and the post is accompanied by a caption that reads “iDare you”.

OnePlus has gone all guns blazing in this cheeky frontal attack that takes a two-pronged blow – one at Apple’s signature ‘i’ and two, at its popular voice-based personal assistant ‘Siri’.

Social Media dig at Apple

OnePlus attributes its stand to the much-cited 2018 market report by Counterpoint Research. What’s simply amazing is OnePlus’ integration of social media, easily accessible news content on the internet and the voice search function of a rival’s own voice assistant feature.

However, it would be interesting to see whether and how Apple responds to the ‘iDare’. OnePlus is doing great in India and many people has switched from iPhone to OnePlus, including me, because iPhone updates are giving big dents to the users.

As I said, we have switched to OnePlus we are unable to try this on our iPhone, we request our iPhone readers to try this and share the results with us in the comment section below. Social Media dig at Apple shows the growth of OnePlus.
