Mi Mix 3 5G variant

As the world is gearing up for the 5G technology, smartphone companies are also preparing to the ride with new technology. After the announcement from the Samsung and OnePlus that their 5G device will be a reality early 2019. Now, Xiaomi is going to join the 5G race and has already showcased its Mi Mix 3 5G variant smartphone at an event in China. The Mi Mix 3 was launched in October this year, the 5G variant of which is expected to hit the markets early 2019.

Atthe China Mobile Global Partner Conference last week, Xiaomi unveiled 5Genabled Mi Mix 3 flagship phone with Qualcomm’s latest mobile chipset,Snapdragon 855 and X50 5G modem, with a maximum download speed of up to 2Gbps.

The variant will sport the newly launched Snapdragon 855 chipset by Qualcomm. The-5G variant features the Snapdragon 845. At the China Mobile Partner Conference the smartphone manufacturer demonstrated web surfing as well as livevideo streaming on 5G network on Mi Mix 3.

Snapdragon 855 chip and X50 5G modem are the same Qualcomm technology that OnePlus and several other Android companies are going to use in their future 5G phones.

Xiaomi said it will join the first wave of 5G pre-commercial field test launched by China Mobile in the first quarter of 2019. The company will soon launch a 5G version of Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 in Europe.

Xiaomi pointed out that it has been ahead of the curve when it came to faster radios on mobile phones. For instance its Mi MIX 2 uses a four-antenna LTE technologywhile Mi 6 has a 2 x 2 dual-channel Wi-Fi.

“5Ghas higher requirements for antenna design and transmission than 4G and Xiaomi is leading in antenna array research and development. Xiaomi also contributedgreatly to the 3rd Generation Partnership Project, a collaboration betweengroups of telecommunications standards associations, helping it revise theexisting standard of NB-IoT, an important part of 5G technology,” said thecompany in a blog post.

Other than Smartphone Xiaomi is all set to expand their products based on the technology. “Xiaomi will also explore opportunities in emerging business areas, such as 8K ultra-high-definition VR streaming, 3D holographic video call, 3D AR street view navigation, video game streaming services, among others,” thecompany added.
