As we are progressing in the smartphone market, two things are continuously changing, first is the design and second is the camera count on the devices. It seems that dual camera setup will become history in 2019 for the flagship phones. Samsung has already planned the bunch of smartphones with 3 camera setup and also launched the world first smartphone with quad cameras set-up, the Samsung Galaxy A9. As per the reports, Xiaomi is all set to introduce the triple camera setup in their two new devices the Xiaomi Mi 9 and Mi MIX 4. The two smartphones are also expected to come with Qualcomm’s latest chipset, the Snapdragon 855.
According to GF Securities, Hong Kong, Xiaomi’s market performance report indicates that the Xiaomi Mi 9 will be the first smartphone from the company to feature three cameras on the back. What’s more, the Mi Mix 4 is reportedly going to have a periscope lens, which enables optical zoom without requiring additional real estate on the phone’s body. Both these models are expected to be the Chinese electronics company’s flagships for the year 2019.
Coming to the basic specifications, both Xiaomi Mi 9 and Mi MIX 4 will be powered by the latest Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855, the research note says. However, neither will be Xiaomi’s first 5G smartphone. During China Mobile’s annual Partner Conference in Beijing earlier this month, Xiaomi had showcased Mi MIX 3 smartphone with 5G connectivity and Snapdragon X50 modem, which will mark the brand’s foray into the 5G segment. The smartphone will launch in Europe during the first quarter.
Coming back to the 2019 flagships, the research note also mentions that Mi MIX 4 could sport a foldable screen, but Xiaomi still hasn’t decided whether to go with such an experimental technology or not. Regardless, there is little reason for fans in India to get excited as both these smartphones may not arrive here. This is because Xiaomi has seen few takers for its Mi series of premium smartphones in the Indian market, while budget Redmi phones are what got Xiaomi to a respectable position in the country.
