Xiaomi Redmi 6 series finally gets entry into the Indian market, after a couple of teases, the company has finally launched the device today in an event at New Delhi. Earlier this Summer, the Xiaomi Redmi 6, Xiaomi Redmi 6A, and Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro were launched but was not launched in Indian Market.
All of the three variants run MIUI 9 on top of Android Oreo, sport tall displays with 18:9 and 19:9 aspect ratios, and AI-powered face unlock capabilities. The most premium of the lot, the Pro model, sports a display notch on top.
Common features among the three smartphones are dual VoLTE, Face Unlock and Unlock with Mi Band, dedicated microSD card slot, and promised support for Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 10 custom UI. Let’s get into the pricing, availability, and specifications of the new Xiaomi series in India.

The Xiaomi Redmi 6 price in India is set at Rs. 7,999 for the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant and Rs. 9,499 for the 3GB RAM/ 64GB inbuilt storage model. The phone will be sold in India starting September 10 via Flipkart and Mi. These prices are introductory in nature and valid for the first two months, and may be revised if the rupee continues to depreciate against the dollar.
Xiaomi Redmi 6A price in India is set at Rs. 5,999 for the 2GB RAM RAM/ 16GB onboard storage model and Rs. 6,999 for the 2GB RAM/ 32GB storage model. It will go on sale for the first time on September 19 and will be held on Amazon India and Mi. This introductory pricing will also hold for 2 months, after which we may see an increase if the rupee freefall continues.
Speaking of the display, it’s 5.45-inches with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The resolution is 1440×720. Inside the device is the MediaTek Helio P22 SoC, 3GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB of storage, and a 3,000 mAh battery. The dual cameras on the back are 12 and 5MP.
Xiaomi has included PDAF, EIS, and AI-infused portrait mode. The front 5MP camera also has portrait mode. Out of the box, the phone is running Android Oreo with MIUI 9.6, but Xiaomi says it will be upgraded to MIUI 10.

The Xiaomi Redmi 6A 2GB + 16GB model will be priced at INR 5,999 and the 2GB + 32GB model is INR 6,999. These prices will increase after 2 months. They go on sale at Mi and Amazon starting September 19th. It will be available in Black, Blue, Gold, and Rose Gold.
The dual-SIM (Nano) Redmi 6A also runs MIUI 9.6 atop Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box, and sports the same 5.45-inch HD+ (720×1440 pixels) panel with an 18:9 aspect ratio.
It is powered by the MediaTek Helio A22 SoC, paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB and 32GB inbuilt storage options, expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB) with a dedicated slot.
In the camera department, the Redmi 6A bears a single 13-megapixel rear camera sensor with PDAF and f/2.2 aperture. There is a 5-megapixel camera sensor on the front for selfies and video calling. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5 headphone jack.

The 3GB + 32GB model is priced at INR 10,999 and the 4GB + 64GB variant is priced at INR 12,999. Xiaomi will start selling the device on September 11th at Mi.com and Amazon.com. The Redmi 6 Pro is available in four colors: Black, Gold, Blue, and Red.
The Redmi 6 Pro is the most premium out of the three Redmi phones launching in India today. It runs MIUI 9.6 based on top of Android Oreo, and sports a 5.84-inch full-HD+ (1080×2280 pixels) panel with a 19:9 aspect ratio and a display notch (with the option to hide the notch).
The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, coupled with an Adreno 506 GPU, 3GB/ 4GB of RAM, and 32GB/ 64GB of onboard storage.
In terms of optics, the Redmi 6 Pro sports a dual rear camera setup with a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor, paired with f/2.2 aperture, PDAF, 1.25-micron pixels, and LED flash. There is a 5-megapixel front camera sensor for selfies.
